This case study explores product design and brand development. The idea is to have a company that produces a product, in this case, an energy bar, and explore ways that the company could creatively market their product. To do this, we need to establish a target market, create a brand personality and find creative ways to market the product.
Target Market – This is pretty easy. The target market is outdoor athletes, beginner to pro, who are looking for a healthy energy bar to jump-start their activity. We decided that to be even more specialized we would target specifically mountain bikers.
Brand Personality – Instead of the typical, “healthy nutrition to be the best you during your activity,” we wanted a little more edge. We wanted this brand to stand out as the energy bar people eat when they want to kick ass and conquer.
Marketing the Brand – We decided that the best way to do this would be to sponsor athletes and events in our target market, mountain biking. This way we are being continuously exposed to our target market and when our athletes win or when we sponsor events, our name is synonymous with winning, reinforcing our brand personality.
We also developed a website, a logo, and marketing materials to help sell and promote the brand. All designs for this case study were done by Awwsom Designs.
